Spring Soccer

With Spring always comes soccer. This year we were especially busy with four of our kids playing. At least Derek & Brynli were on the same team, so that cut down on the number of games we had.

It was Sadie's first year playing and she did great! She got off to a slow start, but once she got the hang of it she was an animal. Her first game she was a little nervous and didn't know if she wanted to play, so she sat out the first few minutes. She had been playing for just a little bit when it starting hailing hard (gotta love Spring soccer). Everyone just grabbed their kids and their stuff and headed for their cars. Needless to say she didn't love soccer after that first game. Good thing she tried it again, because once she scored she thought it was pretty fun. She's pretty competitive and really liked to score. I think all of her time watching her big brothers and sister payed off. Most of the kids didn't really get what they were suppose to do, but Sadie kept getting the ball and scoring. She was awesome! Of course the most important part for her was the treats at the end of each game. Good thing they always had plenty of treats.

Aubrey got to watch lots of soccer games. She is our future soccer star!

Here are Derek and Brynli playing (I even got them in the same shot). It was great having them on the same team. They both did awesome! I think Derek was the high scorer on his team and Brynli scored a few times too. They also both are getting pretty good at passing the ball, and Brynli has the best throw-in of the team, with Derek at a close 2nd. I was so impressed with both of them. Then both play very well. It is fun to watch them play and keep getting better.

It wouldn't be complete without a picture of Kamryn's soccer. He played on the same competitive team that he has played on since he was 9. He is getting really good at his defensive position, and really knows how to use his head. He plays teams from all over the state, so we have to do a little traveling with him. His team played well and seemed to improve this year, unfortunately they played in a higher league than they have in the past and they lost all their games (except one where the other team forfeited). As Kamryn's coach said, "They were the best 0-9 team in the state".  Win or lose we still enjoy watching them play and Kamryn did great!

A day at the Farm

For a field trip we took Sadie's preschool class to a local farm. The kids had a great time. They loved seeing, petting, holding, feeding and riding the animals.

Petting the baby calf.

Sadie even got to hold a chicken.

Sadie's friend Emma taking care of Aubrey.

Sadie & Emma wanted Aubrey to be in this picture of them by the tractor. Aubrey wasn't too excited about it.

The kids even got to play on the swingset and trampoline after they ate their lunch. This was Aubrey's favorite part. She even tried climbing the ladder to the slide all by herself.

Riding the horse was Sadie's favorite part. She loved it! When she was finished she told me that she changed her mind of what she wanted to be when she grew up. Instead of a princess, she now wants to be a horse rider.

Easter 2011

We got to celebrate Easter twice this year. My mom loves Easter, and she was going to be gone over Easter this year, so she had her Easter egg hunt a couple of weeks early. Then we got to celebrate Easter over Easter weekend with the Mansfield family. All of Wyatt's family came out for the holiday, so it was way fun. The weather didn't really cooperate and was a little cold, but that didn't stop us from having a picnic in the park and getting outdoor pictures taken, as well as our Easter egg hunt. I just love spending holidays with family.

Aubrey fell the night before our celebration at Grandma Kathy's and got a fat lip. Poor baby, good thing she healed quickly.

All the cousins that were in town. We always miss Bryce's family.

Wyatt had the camera at his mom's Easter egg hunt. He doesn't take as many pictures as I do.

All the Mansfield Cousins! So fun to all be together. Too bad we can't get them to all look at the camera at the same time. Maybe we shouldn't distract them with candy.

Twelve years old

I can't believe that I have a 12 year old. Kamryn had a birthday a couple of weeks ago and is now 12. It all seems so crazy to me. It seems like just yesterday that I became a mother. Now I am the mother of a young man who holds the priesthood. It was really neat as he received the priesthood and then to watch him pass the sacrament for the first time on Easter Sunday.  It may make me feel a little old, but I couldn't be more proud of Kamryn. He is a great son and I am glad to be his mom.
We had a birthday party at our house for all our family. It was complete with one of Melanie's amazing cakes. Here Kamryn poses with his ipod touch cake. He loved it! It amazingly had many of the same aps that Kamryn has.
Here is a  close-up of the detail on the aps.
And here is even more of a close-up of the Angry Birds ap. Melanie is just amazing.
Here is a picture of Kamryn modeling his new helmet and riding pants.
And here he is with no arms! How is he going to ride his motorcycle now?
HAPPY BIRTHDAY KAMRYN!

March

Here it is the end of April and I didn't even blog about anything that happened in March. I didn't take many pictures, and I don't write everything on my calendar, so I'm sure that I will miss something. I started the month of March off with a girls weekend with my mom and sisters. It is always a good time when I get together with my mom and sisters.  We stayed at mom's house and went through old pictures. It was a lot of fun to reminisce about our younger years. I also did some reminiscing about my grandma last month as I prepared a talk for our Relief Society activity. I was asked to talk about what I had learned from my mother and grandmother. It was fun to think back as I prepared my talk. Not so fun to give the talk, but fun to prepare it.
In March we also went on a field trip to the dinosaur museum with Sadie's preschool class. These are about the only pictures that I took this month.  Do you see how she is quite outnumbered. For most of the year in preschool she was the only girl with 5 boys. One of the boys dropped out so we did add another girl for the last couple of months, but she missed the museum field trip. Good thing Sadie likes the boys. She has done just fine with all those boys. They've needed her to keep them in line. It's been a really fun preschool. Sadie loves it and wants to go everyday.

Wyatt was able to go to the OMD concert in March. He went with two of his high school buddies, Chase and Aaron. Wyatt said that as he stood in line waiting to get into the concert, he looked around and wondered where all the young people were. How come everyone was older? Then he had the realization that he was just as old as most of the other people there. I think it is funny how this happens. We watch the people around us age, but we don't really realize that we are aging too. Well, there was March in a nutshell. April has been much busier, I guess I better get busy blogging about it.
