I'm finally getting around to blogging about my Goldilocks Bike Ride which took place at the beginning of May. I'm going to give a little back ground on this one. At the beginning of January I decided to do a "get fit challenge" that my friend Janice put together. There were about 40 people who participated, and so there were 4 teams of 10 each. Each person got points each day for eating plenty of fruits & vegetables, drinking lots of water, not eating any sweets, not eating late at night, exercising everyday, and keeping in touch with your team. There were also extra challenges like keeping a food journal, meeting exercise goals, not drinking soda, etc. At the end of each week we would turn in our points earned, plus extra points for weight lost and they would be added to the teams points. At the end of each month we would also get points for inches lost and at the end of the 12 week challenge there were additional points for percentage of weight lost. Anyway, I decided to do this challenge so I could be more healthy. My baby was a year old and I still had extra pounds that I wanted to lose, but most of all I wanted a more healthy lifestyle. I thought that this might be just the motivation I needed. I would not want to let my team down. Well it turned out that it was. I did well and lost 10 pounds, and got some healthier habits. The main one being exercising regularly. One of my favorite things to do for exercise was ride my inside training bike.
At the end of March when this challenge was coming to an end, my friend Tari (who also did the challenge) asked me if I wanted to do a 60 mile bike ride with her in May. She had signed up with her friend, Amberly, who was going to be on her honeymoon during the ride. She knew I had been riding my bike a lot and thought I might want to do it. I was totally excited, but a little nervous. I had never done anything like that before. I was also glad to have some more motivation to exercise, since our challenge was almost over. I did really good to train and get ready for the ride. I only had a mountain bike, not a road bike so I made arrangements with Amberly to borrow her bike for the ride, but did most of my training on my mountain bike. I also did most of my training pulling a trailer with Aubrey and sometimes Sadie too. I did some pretty good hilly rides, like up dry fork canyon, and over to Lapoint. It was a lot of fun and I realized that I really love biking!
So back to the Goldilocks ride. It is a girls only bike ride, not race, just a fun ride. They have different distances you can go, 20 miles, 40 miles, 60 miles, 80 miles, & 100 miles. Tari and I did the 60 miles. We started in Herriman, Utah, went north to about 90th south and then went south on Redwood Road out to Eagle Mountain. There we stopped for lunch, and then we headed back to Herriman. It was so much fun and a great feeling of accomplishment. I can't wait to go again next year. Because I realized how much I like biking I had to buy me a road bike. I still love my mountain bike, for mountain biking, but a road bike is a must for road biking.
Tari now wants me to do a triathlon with her in September. This is my latest adventure. I am learning to swim, and training for a triathlon. Like I said, I love the biking, so that part is easy. The running is coming along well and I am really enjoying that too. I am still struggling with the swimming a little, but hopefully it will come (I'm better than I was a month ago). I'm a little nervous, but hopefully I won't drown. Wish me luck!

Good for you. You can do the triathalon if you put your mind to it. especially if you like that kind of thing. Ive been walking on my treadmill and have come to realize I dont mind it at all. I have lost 13 pounds so thats the best part of it.
That is so awesome. I am sure you will do great at the tri. I am not a biker, but love to run and swim... someday I may get a bike and try the tri thing again. I prefer to just run, and run forever. I am proud of you. You did great in the fit challenge. And I really hope you decide to do it again this time. I loved having that constant contact with you. Miss ya.
That sounds awesome! I love riding my bike. Maybe I will come do the Goldilocks too!
